Meet an Alum - Avi Pazner

The Hebrew University Alumni Association – UK invites you to meet the chairman of Keren Hayesod, Avi Pazner, as he speaks about his extensive experiences in "Israeli Diplomacy towards Peace" at a breakfast on 6 October 2008 at Bank Leumi offices in central London.
Every month the Alumni Association will give you the opportunity to get to know the unique people who have studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and will be organise a breakfast with one of its alumni.
Avi Pazner, who has been World Chairman of Keren Hayesod-UIA since 1998, is an Alumnus of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, with a degree in Political Science and Economics. He began his career in the Foreign Ministry in 1965 and he is an official spokesman for the Government of Israel, having participated in the Camp David talks, the Geneva Peace Conference and the Peace Talks with Lebanon in 1982-83. He is former Israeli Ambassador to Italy and France and is the author of "The Secrets of a Diplomat" which was written in 2005.
Mr. Pazner headed the Foreign Ministry’s Press Division and served as Ministry Spokesman from 1981 to 1986, when he was appointed Senior Advisor to Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir. He served in this capacity during the Gulf War and helped prepare the Madrid Peace Conference.
Keren Hayesod-UIA is working in tandem with the Jewish Agency for Israel and the Government of Israel and is committed to advancing Israel's top national and social priorities through three principal areas: Immigration (Aliyah) and Absorption, strengthening Israeli Society through creating social and educational opportunity for underprivileged and low-income communities, and Jewish Zionist Education which is a significant challenge which involves connecting young Jewish people to Israel, Zionism and their Jewish heritage by exposing them to Israel and Jewish life.
