Drawing on a wide range of examples, this lecture explores the long and turbulent history of Yiddish within German-Jewish culture from pre-modern times and up to the Second World War. It is given as part of the Hebrew University Centenary Lecture Series and in memory of Thea Zucker z”l, a devoted supporter of the Hebrew University’s Belgian Friends
