Living off Campus: a quick guide
Renting off-campus accommodation is an attractive option for some students. Rent for an individual sharing an apartment generally costs from £200-400 per month, depending on size and location.
Rental generally doesn't include bills: remember to ask about electricity, water, gas, municipal taxes (arnona), and the monthly building maintenance fee (va'ad bayit). You may also have to pay a lawyer's fee for signing a contract.
If you are considering this option, you may want to look over some listings to find out what the market is like in Jerusalem. The Jerusalem Post and other Jewish and/or Israeli newspapers post these listings. Some students have been successful in the past using http://www.flathunting.com/; we may have more ideas if you are finding it hard to secure accommodation.
