Celebrating the Manchester Families who built The Einstein Institute of Mathematics at The Hebrew University
25th June 2019 BFHU Team

Early next month the Manchester families who contributed to building Manchester House at The Hebrew University will be celebrated in Jerusalem. Until recently this had been one of The Hebrew University’s best kept secrets but since being rediscovered, the origins of the Einstein Institute of Mathematics which is housed in Manchester House can be properly celebrated. The donor board at the front of Manchester House reads like a who’s who of the Mancunian Jewish community some 60 years ago. The efforts of the Manchester community to contribute to the establishment of The Hebrew University should come as no surprise to those who remember that Chaim Weizmann lived in Manchester for over 30 years, teaching biochemistry at Manchester University.
