On the fifth night of Chanukah, in the heart of Hampstead, a gathering of close friends of the Hebrew University took place for a night of light, reflection, and togetherness. Our guests of honour were HU’s former President & Rector Prof Hanoch Gutfreund, Director of the Einstein Centre along with Prof Jürgen Renn of the Max Planck Institute’s Institute of Goeanthropology in Jena and the Institute for the History of Science in Berlin.
For a few hours, guests stepped out of darkness into light reminding themselves of the importance of our Hebrew University and the wonderful friends we have around the world including in Germany.
Thanking our hosts, the Spitz family, Prof Gutfreund presented the book ‘Einstein: The Man and His Mind,’ which features annotated full-page photographs of Einstein that tell the story of his scientific life.
