It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our Women’s Group President, Stella Lucas MBE, at the age of 107.
Stella was a well-known community leader and we were fortunate here at the British Friends to reap the benefits of one of her other greatest passions, the well-being of the State of Israel, and in turn the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She was associated with our Women’s Group for many years and was a long-time Patron of the charity.
Stella took enormous pleasure in hearing of the innovation, scientific breakthroughs and accolades coming from the University. She gave her time and commitment willingly and generously when supporting Women’s Group projects, particularly student scholarships at the Faculty of Agriculture.
Alison Baker, British Friends’ Women’s Group Co-ordinator commented, “Stella will be sadly missed by her friends in the Women’s Group and by the office team, Trustees and Patrons of the British Friends. We wish her daughter, Susan, and family ‘Long Life’ and the comfort of many happy memories”.
