During his recent visit to London, Ambassador Yossi Gal, Vice President for Advancement and External Relations, met with Israeli alumni of the Hebrew University who reside in the area and are actively involved in the alumni community. The meeting was held at JW3 and was facilitated by Nigel Solomon and Moriah Aharon from the British Friends.
At the meeting, which Gal emphasised as particularly significant, he discussed the University’s expanding alumni engagement initiatives. He shared details about the institution’s support for students called up for military service during the war, as well as other affected groups. He also outlined the University’s efforts to strengthen campus coexistence. During the ensuing discussion and in response to alumni questions, Gal addressed the challenges of antisemitism and boycotts facing the University, the maintenance and cultivation of academic excellence, investment in future generations as well as international academic collaborations. He also expressed hope for the war’s end and the return of the hostages, emphasising the importance of rebuilding Israeli society thereafter.
Concluding the meeting, Gal invited the alumni to continue their active involvement in promoting the University’s values across Britain, pledging support for any related initiatives.
