Celebrating Innovation: The 2025 Kaye Awards at Hebrew University
17th July 2025 Arianna Steigman

Each year, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem honours outstanding achievement and ingenuity with the prestigious Kaye Innovation Awards—a tradition made possible by the enduring generosity of the Kaye family. Since their establishment in 1994 by Isaac Kaye, a visionary leader in the pharmaceutical industry, the awards celebrate academic research that drives societal benefit and commercial progress.

The Kaye Awards uniquely welcome nominations from within the University community, including faculty and students, fostering a culture where creativity and impactful innovation flourish.

Honouring Vision, Legacy, and Innovation
The awards embody the Kaye family’s deep commitment to supporting research that translates knowledge into real-world solutions. This steadfast backing has helped generate patents, innovations, and global partnerships that extend far beyond the University.

Spotlight on the 2025 Laureates
This year’s recipients exemplify the Kaye Awards’ mission to celebrate innovation that transforms science and society:

  • Prof. Yinon Ben-Neriah: Recognized for his pioneering contributions to understanding inflammatory pathways and their roles in cancer development and other diseases, advancing therapeutic approaches.
  • Prof. Yossi Buganim: Honoured for groundbreaking research in cellular reprogramming and regeneration, shedding light on tissue development and innovative medical treatments.
  • Prof. Nadav Katz: Awarded for his cutting-edge work in physics, particularly in novel materials and nanotechnology with broad potential technological applications.

Adapting in Challenging Times
Due to the national emergency in Israel, this year’s award ceremony was unfortunately cancelled in line with official directives. Although we could not gather to celebrate in person, the spirit and impact of the Kaye Awards remain as vibrant as ever.

Gratitude to the Kaye Family
The Kaye family’s longstanding support is a cornerstone of Hebrew University’s drive for innovation and excellence. Their vision continues to inspire and enable the University’s brightest minds to push boundaries, create breakthroughs, and contribute meaningfully to society.

Looking Ahead
As we honour the extraordinary achievements of the 2025 laureates, we look forward with hope to future occasions when our community can celebrate together. The Kaye Awards remain a beacon of possibility, progress, and partnership.
