Presenter: Professor Gali Umschweif, a distinguished researcher at The Hebrew University and a leader in neuropharmacology and mental health research.
Professor Umschweif will discuss her innovative approaches to researching treatments and understanding revolving depression and PTSD, highlighting breakthroughs in molecular biology and pharmacology. Her work takes on added urgency in light of events such as October 7th, which underscore the devastating impact of trauma on mental health. Additionally, depression rates have seen a sharp rise globally, with studies indicating a 28% increase in the prevalence of depression in the United States during the past decade. Similar trends are observed in other countries, driven by factors such as social and economic stressors, and exacerbated by global crises.
